Renewing your DAFT permit? The IND wants two years of figures, signed.
At renewal the IND looks at more than your bank balance. It asks for a balance sheet and a profit and loss account for this year and the year before, checked and signed by an authorised independent expert. I draw them up or check them, and sign them as a Becon-registered Dutch bookkeeper. Everything remote and in English.
No payment until your figures are in. Personal reply within one working day.

What the IND wants at renewal
A first application is about one moment: the day your €4,500 went in. A renewal is about what happened since. These are the points the IND checks. Source: the IND page Residence permit self-employed person.
Two financial years
A balance sheet and a profit and loss account for the current financial year and the previous one. If your permit ends in June 2027, that means 2026 and 2027 so far.
Signed by an authorised expert
Checked and signed by an independent external expert. A Becon-registered bookkeeper is on the IND's own list, so you do not need a registeraccountant for this.
The capital is still there
The figures have to show that the capital you invested stayed in the business. The IND states that a bank statement alone is not enough to show this.
Which of these is you?
The statement is the same in every case. What differs is how much has to happen before it can be signed.
Your bookkeeping is done
Your figures are in Moneybird or another bookkeeping program, or a bookkeeper keeps them for you. I check both years and sign the statement: €495 excluding VAT, within five working days, or €595 within 48 hours.
Your records are in a spreadsheet or a folder of receipts
A good starting point, and more common than you might think. The two years are written up first, from your records and your bank statements. You get the price for that after I have seen your files, always before I start and never afterwards on the invoice.
You think your equity has dropped
Losses, private withdrawals and depreciation can all push it down. Tell me early. Often there is a bookkeeping explanation, such as equipment booked as an expense, and that is checked first. If the equity really is short, you hear it plainly and in time to act.
You are on the Compliance Plan
Your figures are kept up to date every month and your equity is checked every quarter, so there is nothing to catch up. The renewal statement is included in your monthly fee.

Questions about the renewal
Is a bank statement enough for the renewal?
No. The IND asks for a balance sheet and a profit and loss account for the current and the previous financial year, checked by an authorised independent expert, and states that a bank statement alone is not sufficient. The figures have to show that the capital you invested is still in the business.
When should I start?
About three months before your permit ends. That leaves time to close the previous year, draw up the current year so far and have the statement signed before your appointment. Your first permit runs for two years; the renewal then gives you five.
My bookkeeping is in a spreadsheet. Is that a problem?
A spreadsheet is a perfectly good starting point, and often a tidy one. It is a source, though, and the two years still have to be written up as proper figures before anything can be signed. That work is quoted separately, after I have seen your files and always before I start.
What if my equity is now below EUR 4,500?
Tell me early. Often it is a bookkeeping matter: equipment booked as an expense instead of an investment, income that has not been booked, or private withdrawals booked the wrong way. That gets checked first. Figures that are correct stay correct, and if the equity really is short, you hear it plainly and in time to act.
Does this work for the Japanese treaty as well?
Yes. A renewal under the 1913 Dutch-Japanese Trade Treaty asks for the same figures and the same signed statement, and it is handled in exactly the same way.
What does it cost?
The signed statement is €495 excluding VAT, delivered within five working days once the figures and the payment are in, or €595 within 48 hours. That assumes the figures for both years exist. Writing them up from receipts or a spreadsheet comes on top and is quoted in advance. On the Compliance Plan the renewal statement is included.
Do I need to come to your office?
No. Everything is remote: you send your figures and documents by email and receive the signed statement as a PDF.
